Kit Longo (they/them) is a Costume Design MFA candidate at Temple University. They received a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Mount Holyoke College in 2016, with a minor in theater. Prior to returning to theater, Kit worked in community organizing and politics; their experience as Chief of Staff has served them well in planning for and adapting to the bustle of backstage responsibilities. They are deeply interested in how theater can allow communities to examine the workings of power structures on gender, race, and class; and how we can use the stage to imagine new possibilities.
Kit has a love fiber arts— drawn to the embodied labor and artistic expression of mediums such as embroidery, crochet, and textile creation (dying, patchwork, weaving). In addition to incorporating these practices into their designs for the stage when possible, they also offer commissions upon request.
Their recent theatrical work includes: stitching for the Upper Darby Summer Stage 2024 season, and costume designing, As You Like It (Shakespeare in Clark Park), If Pretty Hurts, Ugly Must be a Muhfucka (Temple), Welp. (The Lemonade Stand), and Don Giovanni (Temple Opera). They look forward to their upcoming costume design projects for: Annie Jr. (Upper Darby Summer Stage), and Titanic (Temple University).
